This Merchant Marine Notice is intended to provide all Shipowners/Operators, Company ISM managers and other parties with the procedures for approval of an Organization other than the manufacturer concerning the Requirements for Maintenance, Through Examination, Operational Testing, Overhaul and Repair of Lifeboats and Rescue Boats, Launching Appliances and Release Gear.

The International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE) provides Owners, Operators and Master’s with key information that can be used as a tool to prevent deficiencies and/or detentions. IMMARBE is also committed to assist Owners, Operators and Master’s to improve the current condition of the vessel by implementing a Self-Inspection Program.

IMMARBE informs SHIP OWNERS, MANAGERS, OPERATORS, SHIPPING AGENTS, RECOGNIZED ORGANIZATIONS, DEPUTY REGISTRARS of updated situation and temporary measures being taken by the Belize Flag Administration through its Technical Department on the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

IMMARBE informs that any Belize Flagged Vessel that intentionally deactivate the Long-range Identification and Tracking equipment (LRIT) and/or the Automatic Identification System (AIS) will be subject to disciplinary actions.

The Hong Kong Convention in its Article 3 and the EU-SRR in its Article 12 require that all new ships and existing ships of 500GT and above comply with these requirements and hold a proper certification for Inventory of Hazardous Material (IHM).

IMMARBE is informing that the previous notice from the Belize Flag Administration, with temporary measures due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), has been superseded by the subject notice, which includes new temporary measures to be taken for vessels under the Belize Flag.

The International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize has updated the Self-Inspection Checklist.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, IMMARBE assumes temporary measures concerning the operation of the Technical Department, i.a. implementation and enforcement of some IMO Instruments.

On 30 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) constituted a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

We are proud to announce that from May 2019 E-Cert’s process implementation came into effect. The new process of issuing Endorsements will allow delivering Officer’s Endorsements on Belize vessels even faster as all the OEs are to be printed in DR’s Offices.
