Inspection Campaign on Fire Safety
The International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE) with the aim to avoid detentions during the Joint Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC), which will be held by Tokyo and Paris MOUs from 01 September 2023 to 30 November 2023, requires all addressed parties to ensure that ship’s procedure and measures are in place with respect to Fire Safety.
The Port State Control Offices (PSCOs) will use a list of ten (10) selected questions developed by the Tokyo and Paris MOUs to assess that fire-fighting systems and equipment comply with the relevant requirements, that the master and crew members are familiar with operations relating to fire safety, and that equipment is properly maintained and functioning. When deficiencies are found, actions by the Port State may vary from recording a deficiency and instructing the master to rectify it within a certain period of time to detaining the ship until the serious deficiencies have been rectified.
Actions required from Owners/ISM Operators during the Concentrated Inspection Campaign for Vessels trading in Tokyo and Paris MOUs:
For all Vessels currently trading within the Tokyo and Paris MOUs, ISM operators need to contact the Master in order to complete the following questionnaire to be used by PSCOs. The completed questionnaire needs to be submitted by Owners/ISM operators to the Flag Administration not later than 31st August 2023. Owners/Operators should submit the questionnaire duly signed/stamped by Master to IMMARBE's Technical Department (technicalservices@immarbe.com).
