Nairobi International Convention on the Removal of Wrecks

Dear All,

Please be advised that the Nairobi International Convention on the Removal of Wrecks (the Nairobi Convention) will enter into force on the 14th of April, 2015.

The 15 states that so far have ratified the Convention are Antigua & Barbuda, Bulgaria, Congo, Cook Islands, Denmark, Germany, India, Iran, Liberia, Malaysia, Marshal Islands, Morocco, Nigeria, Palau, UK.

The Convention applies to vessels (including fishing vessels and commercial yachts) of 300 GT or above.

All vessels will need a certificate from a State party attesting that the insurance is in force. It will be required (under the principal of no more favorable treatment) that all ships carry insurance and Wreck Removal Certificates on 14 April 2015.

At the present time Belize is in process of ratifying the Nairobi Convention.

We can assist you with the issue of WRC from Cook Islands Flag - member state to the Nairobi convention that can issue Wreck Removal Certificates to vessels flying a Flag of a non-state party.

Wreck Removal Certificate can be issued within 24-48 hours where the copy along with waybill courier number of original dispatch is sent to the client.

FEES:

WRC from Cook Islands - $350 + courier by fact
